PETALING JAYA: Temiang voters who have moved away should return home to cast their ballots, saying their participation would be crucial in determining the constituency’s future, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
In a Facebook post, the MCA president said Temiang remained one of MCA’s traditional strongholds and a key battleground in the election, with about 13,000 voters.
He said one of the party’s biggest challenges was that many former residents had relocated elsewhere, making it important to encourage Temiang natives living outside the constituency to return and vote.
“If Temiang is to continue progressing, the voice of the Chinese community must not be absent,” he said.
Dr Wee made the remarks after joining Barisan Nasional’s Temiang candidate Datuk Leaw Kok Chan at a dialogue session with MCA veterans, Chinese education group representatives and local Chinese community leaders in Seremban 2 and Temiang.
He called on MCA members, residents and Temiang natives to return with their families to exercise their democratic rights.
“Together, let us help MCA regain its footing so that we can continue championing Chinese education, support our Chinese community organisations, and speak up for the people of Temiang,” he said.
