Barcelona (AFP) - Political parties in Catalonia agreed to hold a referendum on independence for the northeastern Spanish region on November 9, 2014, the head of the regional government Artur Mas said on Thursday.
The parties agreed in principle to hold a vote asking residents whether they think Catalonia should be an independent state, Mas told reporters, defying the Spanish central government which has vowed to block any such referendum.
