An ABC News/Washington Post poll out Tuesday demonstrated that Americans are predominantly blaming the GOP for the ongoing crisis. But Democrats and President Obama didn't get off easy either, according to the poll.

Republicans are bearing the brunt of blame for the ongoing budget crisis in Washington more than ever, a new poll out Tuesday shows.
A new record high of 74% of Americans disapprove of the way Republicans in Congress are handling the ongoing dilemma, according to an ABC News / Washington Post poll out Tuesday.
The high dissatisfaction level far exceeds the disapproval Americans have expressed toward President Obama and congressional Democrats.
By contrast, 53% of those surveyed disapprove of Obama’s work on the budget crisis, while 61% disapprove of the way Democrats in Congress have handled budget talks.
The poll, conducted last week among a random sample of 1,010 adults, comes as lawmakers emain gridlocked over plans to raise the debt ceiling and reopen the federal government.
If Washington fails to take action on the debt ceiling before Thursday, the U.S. runs the risk of defaulting on its debts for the first time ever.
