Maputo, Aug 1 (Prensa Latina) President of Mozambique, Armando Guebuza, announced this African country will hold general elections on October 15, 2014, and electors abroad will cast their votes on October 12.
It is extremely important for the presidential and legislative polls and the nomination of provincial assemblies to be held simultaneously countrywide, says a presidential release.
Guebuza set the election day at a proposal made by National Election Committee after consulting the State Council of the Republic, says the document.
The decision on the next elections is adopted as the Government and opposition Mozambican National Resistance party (Renamo) created negotiation groups to ease political-military tension in this territory.
Representatives of Renamo demand changes in the Electoral Law because it allegedly benefits the ruling National Liberation Front (Frelimo), which rejects the accusation.
