Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has proposed forming a "broad coalition" in Ukraine's new parliament.

"I would like to call upon all political forces that care about the future of our country to start negotiations with the objective of creating a broad coalition on the basis of European values for the consolidation of all healthy forces in society and the further development of Ukraine, and implementation of the policy of European integration," Azarov said in a statement posted on the government's Web site on Thursday.

The government "is seriously alarmed at the situation with vote counting" in some of the constituencies where candidates were running individually rather than on party tickets during the October 28 parliamentary elections, he said.
